Polymorphisms of prolactin gene in a native chicken population and its association with egg production
Authors
Abstract:
The induction and regulation of broodiness is of the most important role of prolactin in avian species. The promoter region of the prolactin gene is an appropriate model for studying tissue-specific andhormonally-regulated activation of gene transcription. In this study, the association between prolactinpromoter region alleles and egg production in Fars native chickens was investigated. In total, 100 layinghens, randomly selected from the flock of the Breeding Center for Fars Native Chicken, were genotyped fortwo single nucleotide polymorphisms (C-2161G and C-2402T), one 24-bp insertion-deletion at the site -358.The observed genotypic frequencies in the C-2161G site were CC (0.437), CG (0.435) and GG (0.101). Twoalleles were found for the SNP of C-2402T with frequency of 0.34 for T and 0.66 for C. The 24-bp insertiondeletion at the site -358 was shown to be polymorph in the studied sample, with the observed genotyping frequency of 0.417 in II, 0.457 in ID and 0.126 in DD. Significant relationship was found between the SNPs and insertion-deletion genotypes with egg production (P

full textStudy of Dopamine Receptor Gene Polymorphisms and Their Association with Growth and Egg Production Traits in West Azerbaijan Native Chicken
The objective of this study was to search for single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-type polymorphisms in the dopamine D1 receptor in West Azerbaijani native chicken and look for their association with egg production and body weight traits of chickens by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP). For this purpose 180 blood samples were taken from nativ...

Growth hormone (GH) has diverse functions in animals, together with other hormones from the somatotropic axis. Here, chicken GH (cGH) was investigated in recessive white chickens and Qingyuan partridge chickens as a candidate gene affecting egg production traits. Chicken egg production traits were studied in association with 4 selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (T185G, G662A, T3094C, and ...

Polymorphisms in 5’-flanking region of prolactin (PRL), exon 2 and exon 5 of prolactin receptor (PRLR) genesand its association with growth and egg traits were examined in breeder hens of Mazandaran native fowlsbreeding station. A single nucleotide polymorphism at site C-2402T and a 24 bp nucleotide sequence insertionat situation -382 in 5’-flanking regions of PRL gene were id...
full textMyostatin Gene Polymorphism and Its Association with Production Traits in Western Azerbaijan Native Chickens
In the present study, the polymorphism of myostatin gene (MSTN) in native chickens of Western Azerbaijan Rearing and Breeding Institute was investigated. The blood samples were collected from eighty two randomly selected hens. Genomic DNA was extracted from blood samples and a fragment of myostatin including 599 bp in promoter and exon 1 was amplified using PCR method. Breeding values for body ...
